December 6th 2009, Diamond Way Buddhism Perth members had another enjoyable day out together with the crowds at a funky, very Freo style festival.
We had a stall selling satays, cakes and chai, to raise money for our center.
After several ordinary results at food stalls, serving burgers, this one was a greater success due to satays being a good seller and we also tried a different strategy. This time we engaged the services of a satay restaurant, who made the satays, came to the venue and cooked them on their charcoal burners. As these good people also provided rice, cucumber and peanut sauce, our job was to sell them as fast as they were cooked, all 3000 of them disappearing an hour before stumps.
It was then up to Cate to spruike the cakes, (‘Cakes! Buy some for your girlfriend!’)
A quick pack up and we were first out of the street, then a few beers over a post mortem of the day. Again, a project which had us working together as a group, out in the public domain, raising money for our noble cause.
